Elco High School's contribution to Wednesday's National Signing Day hoopla is Schuyler Harting, a standout offensive lineman from the Raider football team. Harting, a left tackle, will take his talents to Division II Shippensburg, which advanced to the second round of the NCAA playoffs last season.

In Harting, Shippensburg will be getting a rock-steady performer who led Elco's O-line in opening up holes for a punishing ground attack fronted by backs Cameron Strause and Adam Shoemaker this past season. With their run game leading the way, the Raiders enjoyed a resurgent 6-4 season under first-year head coach Robert Miller and came close to securing a District Three Class AAA playoff spot.

A three-year starter, Harting racked up numerous all-star honors during his scholastic career, including this past season when he earned first team All-County status at both offensive and defensive tackle in addition to receiving first-team honors at offensive tackle in Lancaster-Lebanon Section Three.

He was also highly regarded as a team leader by Miller.

"I'm sure every coach always says 'He's a great kid' for every kid, but, for real, he's a great kid," Miller said.

"I am very excited about this opportunity to play at the next level," Harting said. "Shippensburg has a great coaching staff, and they compete at a very high level in the PSAC. I'm looking forward to playing there."
