Last season, the Cedar Crest boys' basketball team won just six games. Two seasons ago, it managed only four victories.

Resurgent Cedar Crest continued to bury the memory of its unsuccessful recent past on Tuesday night, notching its sixth straight victory with a 52-39 triumph against Manheim Township at the Falcon Cage.

The win allowed the Falcons to surpass their combined victory total in 2010-11 and 2011-12, improving their record to 11-7 overall and 7-5 in Section One with four very important regular-season games still to play.

Clay Penchard led the way for head coach Tom Smith's club with 22 points, and Andrew Eudy dropped in 16 to help Cedar Crest avenge a 51-47 defeat to Township back on Dec. 21.

  • Manheim Central 55, Northern Lebanon 54 (OT): In Manheim, the Vikings dropped a heartbreaker when Tony Staffieri nailed a 3-pointer at the OT buzzer to give the Barons the dramatic win.

    Now 13-5 overall and 8-4 in Section Three, NL had a chance to ice the game at the foul line with four seconds left in the extra session but misfired, setting the stage for Staffieri's game-winner.

    The Vikings, who remained tied for second place in Section Three courtesy of Donegal's win over Lampeter-Strasburg, were paced by Pat Stevens' 17 points and

  • Lancaster Mennonite 59, Lebanon Catholic 55: In Lancaster, a key Section Four showdown went to the Blazers (12-6, 8-4), who remained one game behind first-place Lancaster Catholic and dropped the Beavers (12-5, 7-5) two games out of the top spot. Lebanon Catholic faces Lancaster Catholic (12-5, 9-3) on Thursday night in Lebanon.

    On Tuesday, the Beavers fell in a 29-22 halftime hole and couldn't make up the difference en route to their third loss in their last four outings.

    Timmy Orr led Catholic in defeat with 17 points, and Anthony Thomas and Anthony Pletz tallied 13 and 12, respectively.

  • Lebanon 46, Conestoga Valley 40: In Witmer, the Cedars picked up a big win and got a little help to pull into a second-place tie with Cocalico in Section Two.

    While first-place E-town was knocking off Cocalico, Lebanon was getting a huge 17-point effort from Evan Zimmerman and 14 more from Josh Spaulding to improve to 7-9 overall and 5-7 in Section Two.

  • Garden Spot 45, Elco 28: In New Holland, the Raiders managed just nine first-half points on the way to the lopsided loss.

    Colton Lawrence was the high scorer for Elco (4-14, 1-11 Section Three) with eight points.

  • Lancaster Catholic 53, Annville-Cleona 35: In Annville, the Little Dutchmen dropped their eighth straight courtesy of Section Four leader Catholic.

    A-C (4-14, 2-10 Section Four) trailed 26-7 at the half on the way to the setback. Derrick Sanders led A-C with 14 points.

  • Lebanon Christian 58, Fairview Christian 25: In Lebanon, the Panthers ended the night with a 20-1 run to put away a game that was already in hand. The win makes Lebanon Christian 8-2 overall.

    Craig Griffith Jr. paced the Panthers' attack with five 3-pointers and 20 points, while Jon Beiler added 13 points and Phil Gibble chipped in with 11.
