So much for that theory.
On the strength of Holly Marinkov's seventh 3-point basket of the game with - get this - seven seconds left, the Beavers upended Nativity 56-54 in a non-league tussle on the Golden Girls' home floor.
Marinkov's game-winning "3," which came off a pass from Abby Shay, completed a 25-point fourth-quarter eruption by Catholic that erased a 39-31 deficit and helped the Beavers improve to 3-1.
Helene Reist supported Marinkov's heroics with 15 points and two 3s of her own, and Shay chipped in with 14 to help the Beavers overcome 3-for-10 free-throw shooting.
Olivia Andrefski led Nativity (2-2) with 24 points and was one of three Golden Girls in double figures.
