The PIAA recently recognized senior student-athletes from District Three high schools for academic excellence and sportsmanship displayed during the 2011-12 high school season.

Recipients of the Brooks Academic Excellence Award were required to own a GPA of 3.8 or higher, have competed in at least two varsity sports and earned at least three athletic letters since their freshmen seasons. The award is named after district official E. Jerry Brooks.

The Fackler-Hower Sportsmanship Award, named after Pete Fackler and Wendell Hower, is given to one male and one female senior athlete at each school who possesses good citizenship and sportsmanship as defined by the PIAA handbook.

Locally, 29 males and 26 females from seven schools received medals from the district. The complete list can be found below.
