Boys' golfer of the year
--- Avery Jones, York Suburban: Jones was first in Division II with a 75.1 average. The junior finished 12th in District 3 and was the 13th boys' golfer in the YAIAA to advance. He missed states by one stroke after finishing 13th in regionals.
Girls' golfer of the year
--- Aislynn Merling, West York: With an 84 average during the regular season, she was the YAIAA champion. Merling was 14th in the PIAA tournament and averaged an 82 in the postseason. The junior was a captain this year at West York. "She's a coach's dream, very dedicated to improving and takes criticism well," coach Bill Ackerman said.
All-stars
--- Beverly Pike, York Suburban: Pike had an average of 83. She was second in the YAIAA and third in District 3. Her best round of the season came with a 76 in regionals. She finished 11th in the state. Pike is attending Utah Valley University to play golf.
--- Chris Rhein, Kennard-Dale: The Rams won Division II with 81 points with Rhein leading the way. He was second in the division with an average score of 76.
--- Alex Hofstrand, Kennard-Dale: Only a sophomore, Hofstrand had the third-lowest average in Division II at 79.
--- Zach Speights, Susquehannock: With a 79.5 average, Speights was fifth in the division and a district qualifier. The Warriors were tied with York Suburban for third in Division III with 48 points.
--- Ben Purtell, West York: Only a sophomore, Purtell had the best average on the Bulldogs with an 80. He qualified for districts after cutting off about five or six strokes from his freshman season. "He's going to be a real special one," coach Ackerman said.
Co-coaches of the year
--- Mike Ruby, York Suburban: Ruby's Trojans were paced by three district qualifiers, Jones, Pike and Cam Sprenkle. Suburban was tied for third in the Division II standings of the YAIAA with 48 points.
--- Bill Ackerman, West York: His West York squad was second in Division II with 75 points. "They had a pretty solid team from one through five," Ruby said of Ackerman's Bulldogs. "He had four kids who could bust 90. I had three who could bust 80, and the bottom falls out." Getting production from the fourth and fifth golfers was key, and Ackerman said it was big for his team late this season.
