For the first time this season and despite a season-low score, Greencastle-Antrim (15-3) did not finish in the top two. Northern snuck ahead of the Blue Devils, who shot 417, by two shots. James Buchanan finished fifth with a 466.
Tyler Serres fired a 75 to earn medalist honors for Trinity. Greencastle's Dylan Emmett was the top local golfer, shooting 77 to finish in a tie for third. The Blue Devils' Nathan Pool also had an 81 and was tied for ninth.
For James Buchanan (7-11), which also fired a season-low total, Spencer Heckman led the way with a 91 and Isaac Bingaman totaled a 92.
"We shot well," Rockets coach Mark Wise said. "We took some kids that haven't played much and if you look at our top seven, they were all in the 90s. That's more what I expect and even better yet, every one of them thought they could have done better."
Note: Despite a disappointing third-place finish Tuesday, Greencastle-Antrim did pick up an extra win from earlier in the year.
That happened after medalist Jack Goyette was recently disqualified from the Aug. 25 match at Greencastle Greens. He listed a 6 on hole No. 10, but actually took an 8 after forgetting about an out-of-bounds tee shot.
He later admitted the error, dropping the Shamrocks behind Greencastle in the team standings. Emmett and JB's
