The PIAA board of directors voted unanimously Friday to extend the girls' spring soccer season through spring 2012.

The board had previously voted to eliminate the spring season and move it to the fall starting in 2010.

According to a release from the board, schools expressed concerns over the timeframe, particularly in regards to scheduling issues, staffing and facility usage.

The number of enrollment classifications for girls' spring soccer will be reduced from two to one, effective spring 2011.
