The Annville-Cleona boys' cross country team captured first place at the 39th Lebanon Valley College Invitational held Saturday afternoon at the Union Canal Tunnel Park in Lebanon.

In the high school boys' division, the Dutchmen edged second-place Central Dauphin by three points, 46-49. Juniors Mark Bachman and Shawn Wolfe swept the top two spots, covering the condensed-5K course in 17:03 and 17:11, respectively. Classmate Ben Mason (17:28) was close behind in fourth place while Phil Corle's 18:36 was good enough for 15th.

Lebanon High ran to a sixth-place finish, led by Warwick transfer Carlos Rivera's eighth place (18:05).

On the scholastic girls' side, the Dutchmen ended the day fourth in the standings behind Central York, Cocalico and Central Dauphin. A-C's Emily White, who missed all of last year with a knee injury, returned to take fifth place in 22:05. Sophia Safford clocked a 23:03 to also finish among the top 15 runners.

On the college level, host Lebanon Valley's women came in fifth and the men's squad crossed the line in seventh. Individually for LVC, Cynthia Adams paced the women, coming in seventh at 19:30 while freshman Andy Goelz fronted the men in 16:44 (seventh place).

John Hopkins claimed the women's team title, and Elizabethtown ran away with the men's crown at the first race ever hosted at the Union Canal Tunnel Park.
