HAGERSTOWN, Md. - Shalom Christian finally met its match on Saturday in the Mason-Dixon Christian Conference boys basketball championship.

Heritage Academy took a 15-6 lead and rode that momentum until the end for a convincing 64-33 victory.

"Heritage played a strong game," Flames coach Danley Shank said. "I think they came in with the mindset of getting the ball inside to their bigs, and Alex Cosner and Ben Cosner did a good job of finishing."

Alex Cosner had a whopping 30 points for the Eagles, and Ben Cosner followed with 14 to account for more than half of Heritage's points. Chris Harrell added 11.

For the Flames, Jeffrey McCracken and Matt Wenger both had nice games to finish their high school basketball careers. McCracken paced Shalom with 12 points, followed closely by Wenger, who had 11.

"Our seniors helped us get to this point, and without Jeff, Alex (Crilley) and Matt Wenger, we would not have made it to the championship game," Shank said. "I would have loved to been able to get the win but, even with the loss, our guys were able to compete hard and with class."

The Flames finished their season an even 11-11.
