McConnellsburg wrapped up its regular season with a victory and clinched the No. 7 seed in the District 5 Class A playoffs by blasting Chestnut Ridge The Spartans (12-10) won their last 3 games and 5 of their last 6 "It was a nice way to finish the regular season," McConnellsburg coach Dave Garland said. "We needed this to avoid the No. 8 spot, so we wanted to establish the lead and keep it and we did that." Nikki Fleming and Jessi Keefer each scored 18 points - Fleming 11 in the first half, Keefer 13 in the latter half Keefer also put up 16 rebounds and 5 blocked shots "Fleming and Keefer came through big for us," Garland said, "and Kylie Zittle had a really good all-around game." Zittle had 8 points, 5 boards, 4 assists and 4 steals For the Lions (6-15, 0-11 SHL), McKenzie Feather scored 11 points.

Fannett-Metal poured in 28 points in the first quarter en route to scoring 91 points in a rout of Hyndman It was the most points scored by an area girls team since Shippensburg poured in 90 vs. Waynesboro in January 2011 Two Tigers had double-doubles - Blaire Lauthers (season-high 25 points, plus 11 rebounds) and Melissa Zeger (15 points, 13 rebounds) McKenna Bair scored 16 points and Megan Dougherty had 14 for F-M Naomi Fields led with 6 assists and Zeger had 5 steals for the Tigers (11-10) Fannett-Metal took 80 shots and grabbed 61 rebounds F-M coach Jenny Lauthers said, "We wanted to set the tone early. We're just trying to get prepared for districts, trying to execute. Bair scored all of her points in the second half. We got different girls in and moved them around. Overall, it was a good team win tonight." The Hornets (8-11) were led by Kadi Cosgrove with 15 points.
