The Rockets trailed 25-13 at halftime and 36-24 after three quarters, then mounted a comeback in the last period. JB got within four points with less than 10 seconds left, then had to foul the Spartans. That's when Fleming made her foul shots.
Spartans coach Dave Garland said, "We built a nice lead and had them in foul trouble early in the second half. We were already in bonus before the end of the third quarter. We made just enough free throws (26-for-44) to win. At the end, when we absolutely had to make them, we did."
JB scored only five points in the second quarter and it came back to haunt the Rockets.
Buchanan coach Rick Cristofano said, "The second quarter killed us. We couldn't buy a basket. In the second half we went to a pressing defense and got close, but that was it."
Jessi Keefer led McConnellsburg (9-8) with 17 points and had eight rebounds. Fleming added 11 points, pulled down eight rebounds and had four assists. For JB (5-16), Cheyenne Carbaugh scored 11 points and had 13 rebounds and four assists.
