In 15 games this season, Carbaugh has been the leading rebounder nine times and the leading scorer on five occasions. She has had eight double-doubles for the season and increased her streak to six last week.
Carbaugh is this week's Public Opinion Female Athlete of the Week.
"She's a well-rounded player without a doubt," James Buchanan coach Rick Cristofano said. "She's a relentless rebounder. She's hard-working and self-motivated. She's just a team player looking to find ways to help herself and her teammates get better."
Carbaugh understands the necessity of rebounding, especially on a team that doesn't have a lot of height.
"It's important because we don't have a lot of rebounders, and we tend to lose games because teams are outrebounding us," Carbaugh said. "I'm just good at boxing out, and I'm trying to get the ball every time someone shoots."
After scoring a career high 24 points against Biglerville on Jan. 11, Carbaugh continued her double-double streak with two big games last week. Against Boiling Springs on Tuesday, she scored 16 points - her second highest point total this year - and brought down 10 boards. She then followed that by notching a 12-point, 10-rebound game against Shippensburg on Friday.
In Saturday's game against Littlestown, Carbaugh was the leading scorer with 16 and helped the Rockets break their four-game losing streak with a 65-19 victory.
Although Carbaugh is just the second-leading scorer for JB - she is averaging 11.7 points per game - she is glad to be part of the top duo, which also includes Jennae Piper (12.7 ppg).
"Having that is good because when other teams try to shut down one person, we always have someone to fall back on," Carbaugh said. "A lot of people on our team can score, so we can be hard to stop."
Cristafano said, "It takes the pressure off of each of them. We have two people out there now that have the ability to score. They complement each other very well, and when one person is getting double teamed, it helps the other one get open."
Carbaugh's offensive stats are definitely eye-catching, and she is also a hustler on the defensive side of the ball.
"Her best aspect is that she's a fantastic defender," Cristofano said. "We usually put her on the other team's best player. She's very set in the basics, and she's also taken everything she's learned and put it on the court this year."
Carbaugh said, "I just try to help my teammates if I can and get other people away from them. I hustle back on every play, and really, defense is my favorite thing to do."
