The Chambersburg Trojan gymnastics team started off its dual meet schedule in successful fashion, defeating Bedford, 126.7-114.75, at the CASHS Auxiliary Gym on Wednesday evening.

Chambersburg coach Michelle Jones said, "Overall it was a very good meet. We looked tired and kind of worn out, but I'm not disappointed at all. We definitely need a Christmas break."

Darranique Burhanan-Barbour led the Trojans (1-0) with a winning all-around score of 31.9. She placed first in the bars (8.2) and the floor (8.15), and was second in the vault.

Chambersburg's Aubrey Hammond was first in the beam (8.2). Also placing in the top three for the Trojans were Samantha Lowery (second in bars and floor, third in beam, second all-around), Alicia Etter (third in vault and bars, third all-around) and Rebecca Colbert (second in the beam).

For Bedford, Carrie Baker was first in the vault and bars.

Jones said, "I saw some things that we need to work on. Coming back from Christmas break will be good and refreshing for everyone."
