The table had to be moved twice.

At the request of Gettysburg High head coach Janelle Ebaugh, a table at which two Warrior field hockey players signed for collegiate scholarships was moved in front of a field hockey bulletin board.

It then was moved back to its Gettysburg High School gymnasium lobby for Benttion Hendricks, who signed Wednesday to accept a football scholarship from Indiana University of Pennsylvania.

"It's like so much pressure off me," Hendricks said, "To pick a school between IUP and Bloomsburg, I actually loved both of them."

However, Hendricks, projected as a wide receiver, said his decision came down to familiarity. He noted some Gettysburg High graduates, such as wide receiver Terrill Barnes, are connected to the Crimson Hawk program. They include former Gettysburg quarterback Tyler Scudder, who serves as cornerbacks coach and assistant recruiting coordinator.

"He came to a basketball game. That's where I first met Scudder," Hendricks, who caught 46 passes for 777 yards and seven touchdowns last fall for the Warriors, said. "Then he came to visit here at school and that's when we first started talking."

While basketball brought the two together, Hendricks said he is focusing upon football as the basketball season winds down. Saying he would like to major in exercise science, Hendricks said he wants to be prepared to join the IUP squad.

"Just give 100 percent from day one until I'm done," he said of his goals, "and play the best I can."
