Of course, the Kennard-Dale senior is a story in his own right. The bruising fullback rarely was stopped by just one defensive player, yet he was deceptively quick at the same time.
Hornbarger totaled 1,334 yards this season with 15 touchdowns, highlighted by a 203-yard, four-score effort at York Catholic.
A legitimate star who had a great career, Hornbarger was voted the YAIAA Division II Player of the Year and was open for some questions.
Why your sport? Or with your size, did you really have a choice?
I played soccer until seventh grade, then made switch over to football. That was when mom gave in and let me play.
Being a football star, what would you change about your sport?
Maybe how many penalties are called. We seem to get a long our way. Let the game be more about football.
What give you a bigger lift a huge run or smack-down hit on defense?
I like the big runs. In our offense the fullback gets the ball.
Do you have any superstitions on game day? I wear the same Under Armour, compression shorts and socks.
But you aren't crazy, you do wash them?
Oh yeah.
What opponent gave you the most
Littlestown or West York, they are always real disciplined and their D ends crash hard.
What was your favorite moment of the season?
Beating Suburban as bad as we did. We didn't beat them in our first three years and it (was) senior day.
If your sport wasn't offered, what sport would you play?
I would have stayed with soccer.
What sport are you the absolute worst at?
Probably lacrosse. I have alright hand-eye coordination, but trying to throw it is a whole different story.
Who is your role model?
My dad. Not only in sports. He is always pushing me. He is the guy I look to (for advice).
Being a star athlete, you never eat junk food .. right?
Oh yeah. I have a big problem with chips. I like to eat the chips.
What is your favorite activity off the field?
Most time I just hang out with my guys, shoot the breeze and play video games.
What was your favorite thing to do in elementary school recess?
Dodge ball and soccer.
If you had a day all to yourself with no responsibilities, what would you do?
Get some sleep. I lack in the sleep area pretty bad. I would definitely use that day and get some rest.
Are you a clean or messy bedroom person?
(laughing) Definitely messy. Stuff is everywhere.
What is one thing about you that would surprise people? I am more of a soft guy. Am not real big in rough housing, I just like to just shoot the breeze.
What is the one thing you do that drives your mom or dad crazy?
My and my friends inherited a "stupid face" phase. We make stupid faces. It drives my mom up the wall, she gets crazy.

Cheesesteak sub.
