Jordan Davis smirked when asked the question.

"We have too many weapons," the William Penn quarterback said.

He put an emphasis on too many.

Amen.

Let's start with Davis. The senior quarterback can run and throw, evident by another lopsided William Penn victory. And there doesn't appear a team in the county capable of stopping him.

William Penn defeated Spring Grove, 53-19, at Papermakers Stadium in Spring Grove.

Davis threw for 291 yards, completing 14-of-16 passes. But even that stat line doesn't tell the story of how good Davis looked. His two incompletions hit his intended receivers but bounced off their hands.

He threw for five touchdowns, and he rushed for 41 yards.

His favorite target remained UConn-recruit Malik Generett, who hauled in eight passes for 195 yards receiving. Generett reached the end zone three times, scoring on passes of 50, 23 and 21 yards. But Davis also found three other receivers, tossing scoring passes to Andre Callum (15 yards) and Barry Bowman (19 yards).

Just 16 years old and in his first full season as a starting quarterback, Davis has transformed himself into a legitimate Division I recruit.

"I had to practice every day, even when I didn't feel like it, even when I was sick," Davis said. "If you want to be the best you have to practice harder and harder."

William Penn (8-0, 5-0 Div. I) never punted, and easily survived despite turning the ball over four times.

Spring Grove (2-6, 1-4) running back Bobby Bailey did a nice impression of a one-man offense, rushing the ball a lung-busting 25 times for 150 yards. It mattered little.

Think of the game in terms of a foot race. William Penn sputtered at the start, never lost the lead and then high-stepped the final 100 meters.

Spring Grove was able to hang with William Penn in the first quarter, scoring twice after a pair of Bearcats turnovers. It looked competitive right up until the moment when the Bearcats scored again ... and again ... and again ... and again.

The Bearcats scored 33 straight points.

Game over.

"Four turnovers isn't going to get it done," William Penn coach Matt Ortega said.

But he doesn't think the sometimes sloppy play is an omen for his undefeated squad.

"I would be concerned if we looked complacent," Ortega said. "But we aren't complacent. We're still doing what we have been doing the first eight weeks. And the kids are practicing hard."

Spring Grove managed to break the Bearcats' 33-point run on a Bailey touchdown with 6:41 left to play in the third.

The nine-play drive included seven straight carries by Bailey, including a 54-yard gainer. It was an unimaginative offense, but Bailey managed to keep moving the ball forward. His seven carries was broken up by a 1-yard gain by quarterback Ian Smith. And that's when Spring Grove turned right back to Bailey, who scored on a 3-yard plunge.
