2011 Fall All-Star, Division I Field Hockey, Ali Posey, Red Lion, player of the year submitted
Ali Posey's high school field hockey career is only halfway finished, and she's already played on two YAIAA tournament championship teams, scored a winning goal in the title game as a freshman and is now a player of the year as a sophomore.

Posey was voted by YAIAA coaches as the York Daily Record/Sunday News' field hockey player of the year for Division I. Posey took some time last week to answer a few questions.

Here's what she had to say:

* * *

What's one thing you remember from elementary school recess?

We used to always play flag football with all the boys.

What was it like?

It was really rough.

It's noon on a typical Saturday. What are you doing?

I have a lot of animals, so I'd probably be outside with them.

What kind?

We have dogs and goats and turkeys.

Do you have to get up early to take care of them?

Usually just after school when I get home.

Do you have a favorite among them?

I just like all the dogs because they're more playful.

If you could have dinner with any three people, dead or alive, who would they be and why?

I like a lot of country music singers so I like Taylor Swift and Jason Aldean a lot. I'm trying to think of somebody not a singer. Maybe the President. I know nothing about that, so it'd be interesting to see what they do.

How often

do you delete "friends" from Facebook? Do you feel guilty?

(laughs) I get on probably once a week, just to check everything. I don't really delete any friends. If I know them I'll accept them.

What TV show needs to make a comeback?

Hmmm. I liked the Singing Bee on CMT, and it seems like it's never on anymore.

If you could travel anywhere for a month, where would you go?

Hawaii. Because it seems tropical, and everyone says it's so great, and I've never been there before.

How did you start playing field hockey?

I started in third grade. I used to play soccer, but a lot of my friends and me decided we'd try field hockey. I had really good coaches when I was younger, and they made it fun.

So it stuck, huh?

Yeah. I seemed to pick up on it quickly.

What's your best memory of this past season?

This year? Probably winning (the league title) for the second time in a row and being the top scorer for our team.

There was a little hesitation in your voice. Does something come to mind from before this year?

Well, last year, for the (league title), I played varsity as a freshman. We were playing Dallastown in overtime, and I scored the winning goal. Everyone was so excited and lifted me up. That was a lot of fun.

Since you have two years left, have you given any thought to what you want to do after high school?

Well I know I want to play in college. I don't want to go too far away from home. Probably somewhere in Pennsylvania, Maryland or a close state.

What's your favorite subject?

I like math. I like solving things and figuring them out.
