The York Daily Record/Sunday News has unveiled its 2009 Division I field hockey all-stars.

PLAYER OF THE YEAR


   Lauren Markle, New Oxford: One of only three seniors on a young team, Markle led the Colonials into districts with a No. 7 seed. She did it all, from assisting (two in a win against South Western) to scoring (two goals in a win against Dover). But, it was also the leadership she provided that will pay dividends for next year's squad.
 

ALL-STARS


   Emily Caffrey, Central York: The junior helped the Panthers to nine division wins by scoring and assisting. She had a goal in a win against Division II power Kennard-Dale and an assist in a setback to division winner Dallastown.
   Taylor Crider, Red Lion: The senior capped her career by scoring in the YAIAA Class AAA Senior All-Star Game. Before that final contest, she had a solid regular season, in particular a three-assist effort vs. Northeastern.
   Abbie Crone, Spring Grove: The Rocket goalie was tough against the league's best. She had eight saves in a losing effort vs. New Oxford. Not to be outdone, she recorded 18 saves in a setback to Dallastown.
   Lauren Dandy, Dallastown: The senior had a solid season for the Wildcats. Her assist in overtime helped Dallastown to a 2-1 victory against Red Lion, a game where they capped an undefeated regular season.
   Jill Dennes, Red Lion: The senior contributed to the Lions' eight division wins this year with solid play, such as scoring two goals and assisting on the third in a win against South Western. She also scored a goal in the YAIAA Class AAA Senior All-Star Game.
   Ashley Lindo, Dallastown: The junior helped the Wildcats to a seventh straight Division I crown. She had a big assist in Dallastown's thrilling 3-2 overtime win against Cumberland Valley.
   Karley Marquet, Dallastown: The senior's play in goal was outstanding. She helped in 14 shutout wins for the district-qualifying Wildcats. Among her standout games was a four-save effort in a win against New Oxford.
   Erin Reynolds, Central York: The senior helped the Panthers secure double-digit wins. She had a huge game against Northeastern, scoring four goals and assisting on three others in a 9-0 rout.
   Brynn Seidenstricker, South Western: The senior distributed and scored at a good pace. She helped the Mustangs rebound from a slow start to the season by scoring a goal in a win against Dover.
   Brittney Smith, New Oxford: The senior was a leader for the young Colonials. She scored the game-winner against South Western in one of New Oxford's 13 wins.
   Emma Sweitzer, Dallastown: The senior was a key piece in the Wildcats securing the top seed in the District 3 Class AAA tournament. She had a hat trick and registered three assists in a victory against Northeastern.
 

COACH OF THE YEAR


   Jeri Myers, Dallastown: Another season and another division title for Myers and Dallastown, making it seven in a row. The Wildcats went 14-0 in division play and 18-0 in the regular season. That solidified a No. 1 seed in the District 3 Class AAA tournament, where Dallastown was upended by
No. 17 Manheim Central in the first round.
