KAILI HOCKENSMITH, For, Forbes Road
Hockensmith provided the offensive firepower for the Cardinals ... The junior posted a team-high 12 goals and 8 assists ... "Kaili just really stepped up her level of play," Forbes Road coach Carol Cline said. "She brought some more skill with her. She was our fly throughout the season when defending corners. If we played overtime, she was part of that arsenal. She was great on her shots -- especially on the left side, which is difficult. She was pretty smart on her decisions on which type of shot to use." ... Hockensmith was a second-team P.O. all-star a year ago.
SARAH GIPE, For, Greencastle-Antrim
Gipe helped lift the Blue Devils to new heights this season ... The sophomore finished with 7 goals and a team-high 9 assists ... She also scored twice in the Devils' District 3 playoff win over Kennard-Dale ... "When you put Sarah on the field, she makes a huge difference in the way we play our game," G-A coach Jen Everetts said. "She was unselfish with the ball. She moved the ball up the field nicely. I have the utmost confidence in her that when she gets the ball, she can move it up the field and make a play." ... Gipe was an MPC Colonial first-team all-star.
KIERSTEN SYDNOR, For, Mercersburg Academy
Sydnor has reached just the tip of the iceberg in her field hockey career at Mercersburg ... The sophomore led the Storm with 13 goals and 5 assists this season ... "She's pretty important to us offensively," Storm coach Gretchan Chace said. "The good thing is she's only in 10th grade. She has a lot of potential, but also a lot of skills already. I'm excited about what she can do over the next two years. She'll be our new No. 1 scorer in recent school history." ... Sydnor had a 3-goal game against Southern Huntingdon and also a trio of 2-goal games.
MORGAN CRIDER, Def, Chambersburg
Crider moved up from the Public Opinion second-team a year ago ... "Morgan was a very dependable player," Trojan coach Jen Amsley said. "I could count on her for about anything in every game. She would mark up well and hold the defense together. She could take the ball up from the defense and put the ball in the cage. She really improved over four years. I'm glad I've had her for four years. I'm sure she'll do well in college." ... Crider had 3 goals and 2 assists this season ... The senior was also a Mid Penn Commonwealth Division first-team all-star pick.
KATIE SHOOP, Mid, Shippensburg
Shoop moved up to the P.O. first team after earning second-team honors as a junior ... "She was one of our captains and strongest leaders on and off the field," Shippensburg coach Caitlin Cressler said. "She's part of the core of the team. She helped control the play of the game. She made the teammates around her play better." ... Shoop finished with 4 goals and 5 assists ... She posted a 2-goal game against Forbes Road and a 2-assist game against Waynesboro ... Shoop was also a Mid Penn Colonial Division first-team all-star.
SARAH JANSEN, For, Greencastle-Antrim
Once Jansen settled in, the Blue Devils were a better team for it ... "Toward the first third of the season, Sarah became confident with her stick skills," G-A coach Jen Everetts said. "She and Sarah Gipe worked well together. She moved the ball well and was at the right place at the right time to score and create opportunities for us." ... After a 2-5 start, G-A finished 9-2-2 the rest of the way ... Jansen finished with 8 goals and 3 assists ... The junior is a Mid Penn Colonial Division first-team pick and a Public Opinion honorable mention selection last season.
RACHEL SANDERS, Goalie, Chambersburg
Chambersburg's last line of defense, Sanders helped lock down opposing offenses ... "Rachel worked very hard in the offseason," Trojan coach Jen Amsley said. "She was a very good goalie. I even put her on the field once and she scored a goal. She could be counted on in the goal. She was always directing back there -- very vocal. The defense listened to her in terms of picking up on marks. She was pretty important to our team." ... Sanders is a first-time P.O. all-star and a Mid Penn Commonwealth Division first-team selection.
KATIE CARSON, Def, Shippensburg
Carson was a stalwart in the center of the Lady Hounds' defense ... "She controlled the defense," Shippensburg coach Caitlin Cressler said. "She was the best defender we had and one of the best leaders we had. She controlled the backfield. Many of our offensive plays started with her, as well. She was also a captain and one of the better leaders we had." ... Carson chipped in on offense with a pair of goals this season ... Carson was a Mid Penn Colonial Division first-team selection and she's making her first appearance on the P.O. all-star team.
MEGAN KELLER, Mid, Forbes Road
Forbes Road could depend on Keller to get the job done in the midfield ... She posted 3 goals and 6 assists for the Cardinals ... "She really stepped up on defensive corners," Forbes Road coach Carol Cline said. "Megan certainly has speed. She can fly to the defensive corners. She's very accurate playing with the ball. She handles the midfield like a quarterback. Megan helped set up the attack and ended up scoring as well. On corners, she was our inserter." ... Keller was a P.O. first-team selection last year.
JESSICA HIGMAN, Def, Greencastle-Antrim
Higman helped solidify the Blue Devils' defense ... G-A served up 4 shutouts and held 9 opponents to 1 or fewer goals ... She also scored a goal on offense ... G-A coach Jen Everets said, "Over the past year, she's really evolved into a very confident player. Her aggression and ability to carry the ball helped us in our defensive circle to get out and move it upfield." ... Higman was a Mid Penn Colonial Division first-team all-star ... In her last year with the Blue Devils, this is Higman's first appearance on the P.O. field hockey all-star team.
