The physicality on display by Great Valley Friday night didn't sit well with Sun Valley. So the Vanguards decided to strike back on the scoreboard.
Shawn Ryan, Brandon Nunes and Nicholas Daluisio scored within a two-minute, one-second span in the third period to help the Vanguards pull away from the Pioneers, 5-1, in Ches-Mont action.
Eric DeLellis and Tanner Wetten also scored for the Vanguards, and Shawn Ryan chipped in two assists. Paul Sykes made 13 saves in net for Sun Valley.
In the Central League:
Conestoga 10, Upper Darby 1: Joe Pozzuolo's unassisted tally put the Royals up after one period, but the Pioneers scored six times in the second period, five of them by Michael Switucha on his six-goal night. Ryan Caldwell added two goals and three assists for Conestoga.
Strath Haven 8, Harriton 2: Anthony Polo and Logan Simonian scored twice and each added an assist, and Sean Volz, Tucker Carney and Travis DeBruyn each chipped in a goal and a helper as the Panthers rolled.
Strath Haven, which got 16 saves from Nathan Barrett, had 10 players record a point.
In nonleague play:
Perkiomen Valley 4, Penncrest 0: Jake Branyan made 19 saves in net, but the Lions couldn't find a way to beat Austin Lee (19 saves) and the Perk Valley defense.
Unionville 4, Ridley 2: Nick Catona scored back-to-back goals in the second period — the first off a feed from Sean Dolan — to get the Green Raiders within a goal, but Zachary Lyons' second goal of the game gave the Indians that win.
Brendahn Brawley made 43 saves in net for Ridley.
Tessa Landry did just about everything humanly possible, stopping 37 of the 43 shots to come her way, but Radnor couldn't generate much in the way of offense in a 6-0 loss to Unionville.
