After an easy first game, Garnet Valley volleyball got a decent-sized scare from Ridley Monday afternoon.

The Green Raiders took the second game to even things up, but the defending Central League Jaguars roared back to polish off a 3-1 Central League victory.

Elise Cummings set up the bulk of the offense with 24 kills, which in turn led to Brianna Plush's 14-kill performance. Kiley Price controlled the net for the Jaguars with five kills and four blocks, while Nicole Clayton served up six aces.

Samantha Schreiber led the Ridley upset effort with 10 kills, while Amy Staiber plucked out 16 digs. Penncrest 3, Haverford 0: Diana Balta and Emily Hopkins teamed up for 15 kills and Nikki and Gianna Gargiule each set up 15 kills to help the Lions (12-13, 10-2) roll over a depleted Fords team, 25-20, 25-19, 25-18, for the No. 3 spot in the Central League.

Sam and Amanda Hunt were a force at the net for Penncrest as each bashed four kills. Strath Haven 3, Springfield 0: Ellie Stief led the way for the Panthers with 15 assists and a quartet of aces, while Bridget Scott posted a double-double by pairing 15 digs with 10 kills as Strath Haven (12-2, 10-1) took home wins of 25-17, 25-17 and 25-20.

Alice Roberts turned in a typical effort for her, pounding out 16 kills and serving up three aces. Marple Newtown 3, Radnor 0: Rachel Dennin's setting paced the Tigers' offense to wins of 25-18, 25-19 and 25-20.

In nonleague action:Academy Park 3, Harry S. Truman 1: Lee Brown put down a half-dozen kills to go with a trio of aces, while Tianna Jennings (two aces) and Alaysia Perry (three aces) were standouts at setter to help the Knights (7-5) roll to wins of 25-18, 25-17, 22-25, 25-21.
