Welcome back to the win column, Upper Darby field hockey.
The Royals got first-half goals from Jessica Hagan and Bridget Johnson, while Kerri Rickards and Hoscia Nicholson stopped one shot apiece to help Upper Darby beat Coatesville, 2-0, to snap a six-game winless skid Monday.
Johnson recorded an assist on Hagan's goal and Erin Tighe set up Johnson's tally. Kelly McGee and Erin Redden came up big defensively for the Royals, which hadn't won since a 1-0 triumph over Academy Park. Marple Newtown 5, Norristown 2: Gina Monahan found the back of the cage twice for the Tigers (5-6) and Megan Peterson turned away a dozen shots as Marple Newtown claimed its third win of its past four outings.
Lauren Ferguson, Sam Walsh and Christina Giangiordano also netted goals for the Tigers. Archbishop Carroll 2, Phoenixville 1: Grace Midgley set up Gabby Sutter for the game-winning goal with 19:30 to go and the Patriots (7-3) got nine saves from Kerri Mountz to drop the Phantoms.
Samantha Swart also scored for Carroll off of an Alyssa Lemons assist. Central Bucks South 2, Cardinal O'Hara 1: All-Delco Marissa Cicione gave the Lions an early lead with her 19th goal of the season and Liz Piszker was stout in net with 10 saves, but Mackenzie Harding's overtime goal handed O'Hara (7-3) its second straight 2-1 overtime loss despite strong defense from Lauren DelRomano, Gabby Rowe and Sarah Quintus.
In the Catholic Academies League:Sacred Heart 2, Villa Joseph Marie 2: Natalie Hrabrick turned away a dozen shots and Grace Parker set up Hannah Kerns to knot the game up at two to preserve a tie for the Lions (2-9-1, 2-6-1).
