It took Sun Valley longer than anyone in Delco to get in the win column, but the Vanguards finally broke through.

Molly McGowan scored with 5:04 left in the game to break a scoreless tie and Joey Walker added an insurance marker with 57 seconds to go as Sun Valley knocked off Pottsgrove, 2-0, for its first victory of the season.

Trish Donaghy had a helper on McGowan's marker, while Lauren Longhi stopped five shots for Sun Valley (1-8-1). Jess McGarrey spearheaded a staunch defensive effort that turned away 11 Falcons corners.

Strath Haven 2, Archbishop Carroll 0: Andrea Govannicci got the scoring started in the first half and Alex Bonser set up Kristen Baschoff's second-half goal as the Panthers blanked the three-time defending Catholic League champions.

Kerri Mountz turned away 14 shots in a valiant effort between the Carroll pipes.

Downingtown West 2, Cardinal O'Hara 1: Sarah Quintus set up Jess Randazzo for a first-half goal to give the Lions (7-2) a lead, but even strong defense from Quintus, Gabby Rowe and Lauren DelRomano couldn't prevent the Whippets from storming back for the win thanks to an overtime goal from Jaclyn Lutza in a game between two of the area's elite.

Liz Piszker stopped four shots for O'Hara.

Bishop McDevitt 2, Academy Park 1: Nicole Dominick provided the offense for the Knights and Darriel Bennett stoned five shots, but AP was done in by a pair of Sabrina Cunnane goals.
