Allie Wilson doesn't always run cross country. But when she does, she does it faster than everyone else.
The soccer and track All-Delco was the first across the line Wednesday at Rose Tree Park, stopping the clock in 20 minutes, 41 seconds to lead Strath Haven to comfortable Central League wins over Lower Merion, 19-39, and Radnor, 15-47.
Isabel Cardi was third in 21:02, followed by Sam Snyder (21:05), Christina Cheruka (21:25) and Sara Peeleman (21:42) for the Panthers (7-0, 7-0 Central).
Lower Merion topped Radnor, 22-34, behind Duranya Freeman's second-place finish. Radnor's Jane Pereira-Ogan was first across the line for her team, taking seventh in 22:20.
Upper Darby takes two: Khayla Williams put distance between herself and Penncrest's Laura Krasovec in the final 150 meters as Upper Darby took home a pair of wins at Naylor's Run Park, 19-36 over Penncrest and 15-48 over Marple Newtown.
Williams ran a personal-best time of 19:57, besting Krasovec by two seconds. The wins for the Royals (5-2, 5-2 Central) were produced by a balanced team effort that included Dootleen Joseph (third, 20:54), Tina Lee (fourth, 21:02), Ashley Thompson (fifth, 21:04) and Meggie Leitz (sixth, 21:08).
Penncrest runners, led by Maddie Conway's seventh-place finish, rounded out the top 10 to furnish a 15-48 win over Marple Newtown.
Haverford claims two: Garnet Valley's Liz McGroarty outkicked Haverford's Courtney Naser in the final yards of the Coopertown Elementary Course, but the Fords took the next four places to score wins of 17-38 over Ridley and 23-32 over Garnet Valley.
McGroarty finished the course in 19:04, a second faster than Naser. But the latter had a passel of teammates behind her to ensure the wins. Mary Kate Lindner (19:22) was third, followed by Lea Spaniak (19:35) and Marissa Donohue (19:40) for the Fords (7-0, 7-0).
Skyler Berrardi clocked in sixth, and Nicolette Zukowski and Amanda Kodis took eighth and ninth, respectively, to earn the Jaguars a 19-38 win over Ridley. Sam Brennan was the first Green Raider over the line in seventh overall, followed by Liz Brennan in 10th.
Springfield drops a pair: Grace Galligan finished just five seconds behind the pace of Harriton's Maura Henderson to take second overall in 20:53 at Mill Road Park, but she was the only Cougar in the top 10 as Springfield lost by margins of 20-43 to Conestoga and 19-44 to Harriton.
