Liz McGroarty led an impressive performance for Garnet Valley, taking fifth overall as the Jaguars finished fourth in the girls Division I race at the Briarwood Invitational Saturday.

McGroarty crossed the line at Philadelphia's Belmont Plateau in 20 minutes, 54.26 seconds, good for the fifth fastest time. Teammate Skyler Berrardi came in 12th in 21:27.18, Amanda Kodis was 19th and Nicolette Zukowski was 29th as the Jaguars scored 143 points as a team.

Ridley, the other Delco entrant in Division I, was 11th with 279 points, led by Liz and Sam Brennan in 49th and 51st places, respectively.

Division II: Springfield's Grace Galligan led a trio of Delco runners in the top 10, stopping the clock in 20 minutes, 47.32 seconds. A place behind Galligan was Episcopal Academy's Alexis Malmberg in 21:03.61, while Notre Dame freshman sensation Sydney Stribrny was ninth in 21:14.13.

Episcopal earned the highest team finish by taking third with 85 points, well behind the 30 of champ Pearl River. Behind Malmberg, Katherine Hong was 12th, Abby Holston finished 15th, Leighann Adelizzi was 26th and Audrey Lee was 27th.

Notre Dame finished fifth as a team, Stribrny being followed by Erin Mongeluzi in 36th place.

A place behind the Irish was their Inter-Ac rivals Agnes Irwin, paced by the 29th-place finish of Marin Bloise, a place ahead of fellow Owl Katya Smith.

Galligan's outstanding individual effort could only help Springfield earn 10th in the team standings, the Cougars' next two finishers being Kyra Phillips and Kiera Meighan in 47th and 48th, respectively.

Corinne Huston of Marple Newtown was the 34th-fastest individual; her Tigers finished in 11th as a team.

PIAA Foundation Invitational: Strath Haven finished third in the team standings and had two individual medalists in the Gold Race (Class AAA) at the State Course at Hershey Park.

Haven's 133 team points put it behind champion Pennnsbury (78) and runner-up Mount Lebanon (90). Individually, Abby Kennedy finished 12th with her time of 20 minutes, 13 seconds, a spot ahead of teammate Mia Mesyngier (20:28). They were well behind the course record set by Abington Heights' Tessa Barrett in 17:48.

Claire Wolters was 25th, and Isabel Cardin finished 29th for the Panthers.

Cardinal O'Hara (243) finished seventh as a team, paced by Grace Mancini's 26th-place finish in 20:51.

Blue Race (Class AA): Bonner-Prendergast and Archbishop Carroll finished 18th and 19th, respectively, in the 25-team field.

The Patriots were led by Gabriella Miele, who posted the 43rd fastest individual time.

Sonia Dever was fastest for the Pandas in 76th place, followed closely by Robyn Gannon (81st) and Maureen McCann (82nd).

White Race (Class A): Delco Christian finished last in the 19-team field, despite Cassidy Foxhoven completing the course in 23:14, the 39th-fastest individual time.
