Catherine Kutys opened the scoring by converting a feed from Kiersten Martin midway through the first half, and Libby McConologue set up a second-half insurance goal by Tamara Das, allowing Cardinal O'Hara to slip past host Archbishop Carroll, 2-0, in an up-tempo Catholic League season opener.

Lions keeper Carrie Zamonski earned the shutout with 11 saves, while Alex Varricchio turned aside a dozen shots to keep Carroll close.

In another Catholic League match:Little Flower 4, Bonner-Prendergast 0: Miranda Corrigan came up with 10 saves, but the Pandas fell behind by three goals early and were unable to find the back of the net.

In a nonleague clash:Ridley 0, Interboro 0: The host Green Raiders (0-2-1) were able to hold on for the double-overtime scoreless tie thanks to 13 saves by Maria Cheeseman.
