Elizabeth Myers needed 29 points to surpass 1,000 for her career at Eastern York. She scored 30 in the Golden Knights' 68-30 victory Friday night against William Penn.

Myers' mother, Tracy (Strausbaugh) Myers, was the first Eastern York player to reach the milestone in 1984.

  • "I had no idea how many I needed," Myers said. "I knew I needed a lot, but I knew it was doable. Until the fourth quarter, my coach told me I needed six points. That was the first time I knew about it."

When she reached the milestone early in the fourth, Myers went to her teammates. Then her coach. Finally, her mother, with whom she now shares a place in the record books.

"I really wanted to get it at home," she said. "It's not the same when it's away. It was senior night so that makes it even more special."
