Font ResizeMANCHESTER - Shippensburg let its two-game win streak fall by the wayside when it was taken down by Northeastern, 47-41, in a non-league boys basketball matchup Saturday night.
The Greyhounds held a 36-32 with less than five minutes left, but the Bobcats finished the game on a 15-5 run to seal the victory.
Northeastern (10-6) was led by Kahlid Nwandu, who had 23 points, including 11 points in the last quarter alone.
Ship coach Ray Staver said, "We made some mistakes and had a couple of turnovers. Our execution wasn't real good down the stretch, and he basically took over the game."
The Hounds (8-8) did manage to make a game of it after being down 17-5 after the first quarter. Ship outscored Northeastern 29-15 in the middle two stanzas.
"We just got down early," Staver said. "They like to run and get you to shoot quick and get in an up-tempo game. We played much better in the second quarter and even better in the third quarter, though."
Reid Singhas led the Hounds, earning another double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds. Mac Miller added 10 points for Ship.

"We've been in these situations before, and this time we dug deep and made some plays." Grant Strawoet led the Rockets (4-12) with 17 points, Jake Muller had 10 points and 13 rebounds and Ryan Hege brought down 11 boards Larry Strawoet said, "We locked on their better players and we did a nice job on the boards - it was one and down for them. Ryan Hege came into his own tonight. We got a lot of positive minutes off the bench tonight." For the Bolts (6-10), Braden Becker led with 14 points.

Indian assistant coach Travis Hardman said, "Our team did a nice job of fighting back today. We were down after the first, and I have to give them credit because it took a total team effort. Our guys coming off the bench gave us a lift and sparked that comeback." ... Nine different players scored for Wayneboro (6-10) and 6 players hit a 3-pointer ... Cole Warrenfeltz was the team leader with 17 points ... Despite Northern shooting 56.8 percent from the field, the Polar Bears (8-9) took only 37 shots and were 7-of-14 from the line.

Wills nearly earned a double-double by pulling down 9 boards - 7 of which were defensive ... Wills also had a team-high 3 steals ... Patrick Ryan was also in the double figures with 19 points.
