York, PA - The Daily Record/Sunday News presents the 2012 YAIAA Division II Baseball All-Stars:
  
PLAYER OF THE YEAR
   Kaden Hepler, West York, Sr., P/1B: The Winthrop University recruit dazzled on the mound all spring for the Bulldogs, but he saved some of his best work for the postseason. Hepler won all four of West York's state playoff games, including a complete game performance during the Bulldogs' 9-6 victory against Lampeter-Strasburg in the PIAA Class AAA title game.

The right-hander finished the season with a 14-0 record, a remarkable 0.93 ERA and 131 strikeouts in 90 1/3 innings. He did not allow an earned run in 14 of his 18 appearances.

Hepler also chipped in at the plate, batting .338 and blasting three home runs.

  
ALL-STARS
   Josh Writer, Northeastern, Sr., P: Writer notched a 6-2 record with a 3.10 ERA and 62 strikeouts for the Bobcats. He was equally potent with the bat, hitting .390 and producing an unreal .780 slugging percentage.
   Brandon Kinneman, West York, Jr., P/1B: The left-hander gave the Bulldogs a 1-2 pitching punch, finishing the season with a 2.05 ERA in 511/3 innings. He also occupied the three-hole in West York's order, ripping three home runs.
   Jesse Bortner, West York, Sr., C: Bortner was another power threat for the Bulldogs. He drove in 20 runs and crushed a pair of home runs, including a three-run shot during West York's state playoff win against Hollidaysburg.
   Jesse Sargen, Northeastern, Jr., SS: Sargen turned a solid .333 batting average, but even more impressive was his .500 on-base percentage. He also smacked seven extra-base hits, including a homer.
   Andrew Czap, New Oxford, Sr., SS: Czap led the Colonials with a .424 average and also produced a .506 on-base percentage. He knocked in four of his 13 RBIs during an early-season win against Kutztown.
   Dan Hare, Kennard-Dale, Jr., SS: Hare showed both power and speed at the dish. He blasted nine extra-base hits and contributed eight steals while hitting .404 on the season.
   Jason Cooper, Kennard-Dale, Jr., 2B: Cooper teamed with Hare to give the Rams a solid tandem up the middle. He hit .410 while driving in 18 RBIs and scoring 20 runs.
   Carson Fries, West York, So., 3B: The sophomore held down the cleanup spot in West York's lineup, driving in 22 runs and chipping in five doubles.
   Jerrin Toomey, West York, Sr., OF: Yes, Toomey was a stolen-base machine (29 on the season). But he also was a complete hitter, as evidence by his batting average (.419), on-base (.495) and slugging (.559) percentages.
   Collin Crowell, Kennard-Dale, So., OF: Another member of Kennard-Dale's nucleus of returning players, Crowell hit .406 this season on 28 hits.
   Darren Majczuk, New Oxford, Sr., OF: Majczuk hit .353 and finished the season with a team-best .534 on-base percentage. He reached base at least once in all but two of New Oxford's games.
   Mitch Slater, Dover, Jr., DH: Slater added some punch to the Eagles' lineup. He hit .361, scored 13 runs and reached base at a .458 clip.
  
CO-COACHES OF THE YEAR
   Don Kauffman, Northeastern: After ending up a game below .500 in 2011, the Bobcats finished second in the division this season with a 12-7 (8-6) mark. The highlight of Northeastern's season came in the form of a 3-1 win against West York on April 25.

   Roger Czerwinski, West York: In his fourth season at the helm, Czerwinski lifted the Bulldogs (24-4) to new heights. West York won its second division title in three years and won a YAIAA tournament title on the way to the PIAA Class AAA championship, where the Bulldogs beat Lampeter-Strasburg, 9-6, in the title game.
