York, PA - The Daily Record/Sunday News presents the 2012 YAIAA Division III Softball All-Stars:
PLAYER OF THE YEAR
Skye Ripple, Littlestown, Sr., C: An all-star last season, Ripple provided solid work behind the plate as well as with her terrific bat, which helped the Thunderbolts capture the Division III championship and a berth in the YAIAA tournament championship game.
The senior capped her high school career by hitting .571 with a division-high seven home runs.
ALL-STARS
Samantha Butt, Littlestown, Sr., SS: An all-star last season, the Thunderbolt senior hit an even .500 with three doubles, two triples and a home run for the Division III champs.
Paige Dennison, Bermudian Springs, Sr., SS: One of the league's finest all-around athletes, Dennison cracked a YAIAA-best 42 hits -- 18 of which were for extra bases, including 11 doubles and five triples. She scored and drove in 33 runs each while hitting .646.
Grace Divet, Eastern York, Jr., OF: One of several underclassmen standouts for the Golden Knights, Divet slapped 29 hits (.453 average), including two doubles, four triples and two home runs.
Rachel Frey, York Suburban, Sr., 1B: The senior captain capped her Trojans career by scoring 20 runs while hitting .393 this season. She had 20 hits, 12 runs scored and 10 RBIs.
Erin Kalke, Eastern York, So., C: In addition to handling things behind the plate, Kalke had 28 hits, a .438 average and five doubles during her sophomore season.
Lauren Reichard, Eastern York, Fr., SS: Talk about a great freshman year, Reichard mashed 37 hits en route to hitting at the impressive clip of .570, all while playing shortstop.
Madi Shockey, Susquehannock, Fr., IF: She made the most of her first varsity season by hitting .411, with 23 hits, six doubles and a home run.
Emmy Turybury, York Suburban, Fr., P: She not only controlled things on the pitching mound for the Trojans, but averaged .458 at the plate, with 21 hits, 17 RBIs and 14 runs scored. She also notched six doubles -- as a freshman.
COACH OF THE YEAR
Brad Rohrbaugh, Eastern York: Rohrbaugh led his youthful Golden Knights squad to a second-place finish in Division III and a berth in the District 3 Class AAA tournament.
Eastern's record improved two games from 2011 and six games from 2010.
