NOTE: Public Opinion all-star teams are selected by the P.O. sports staff, based on observations by the writers, statistics and coaches' recommendations. The girls soccer all-star page was compiled and designed by Ed Gotwals.

SAM McQUADE, Goalkeeper, McConnellsburg

Statistics: McQuade posted 5 shutouts, giving her 19 for her career ... She also stopped 2 penalty kicks (6 career).

Accomplishments: McQuade was a Sideling Hill and ICC first-team all-star ... She was on the P.O. second team a year ago ... McQuade will attend Shepherd U. and play softball.

Quotes: Spartan coach Toby McGarvey said, "Sam started as a freshman and played all 79 games of her career. She only came out of one game, for a concussion. She helped get us into the playoffs three times. She kept us in games and the girls respected her."

TAYLOR AMSLEY, For, James Buchanan

Statistics: Amsley led the area in goals, hitting the net 22 times ... She has 48 goals and 16 assists in her career.

Accomplishments: She was a P.O. first-team pick in 2008 and second team in 2009 ... Amsley was a Mid Penn Capital Division second team choice.

Quotes: JB coach Terry Appleby said, "The good thing is, she has started to learn other ways to score rather than just using her speed and taking it right to the goal. She's able to change her pace. She didn't rack up a lot of her goals against our lesser opponents."

TORI RICKER, Def, Chambersburg

Statistics: Ricker had 2 assists while playing central defense and then moving up to stopper.

Accomplishments: She was just a couple of votes shy of making the Mid Penn Commonwealth Division all-stars.

Quotes: "Tori always did whatever you asked her to do," Trojan coach Caleb Davis said. "She is definitely fast and covers a lot of ground. She goes in hard on tackles, and battles hard, which is a real plus. Tori communicated well with the rest of the defense and she always gave 110 percent in every game."

HEATHER SANDERS, Mid, Greencastle-Antrim

Statistics: Sanders tallied 6 goals and 2 assists from center midfield, giving her 7 goals and 4 assists in her career.

Accomplishments: She was selected to the first team of the Mid Penn Capital Division all-stars.

Quotes: Blue Devil coach Greg Cole said, "Heather has a calm way of playing even though she has a good pace. Sometimes she tries to do too much, but for a sophomore, she did quite well. She is focused and intense as a competitor, even when she's playing indoor or pick-up games with the boys. Soccer is her passion."

ALYSIA CLAWSON, Mid, Shippensburg

Statistics: Playing both outside midfield and striker, Clawson's debut season resulted in 12 goals and 9 assists.

Accomplishments: The Mid Penn Capital Division coaches voted her onto the first team of their all-star list.

Quotes: Lady Hound coach Warren Jones said, "She was a real treat to watch. She's a very strong player who runs the field well. I think she played attacking mid better than as a true forward because she does so well in space. She makes runs where you wouldn't expect her to make them and gave up nice balls to other players."

MICHAL SANDERS, For, Waynesboro

Statistics: Sanders scored 11 goals and had 2 assists, giving her 38 goals and 10 assists (she missed the 2009 season with a knee injury) in her career.

Accomplishments: A 2008 P.O. first team pick, Sanders made the Mid Penn Keystone Division second team this year.

Quotes: "Coming back from a serious injury (ACL and MCL), I don't think she was quite as potent as before," Maiden coach Rich Hetzer said. "She was maybe at 75-80 percent. But she still scored goals against good competition, even with two players marking her."

JADE FLORY, For, Chambersburg

Statistics: Flory led the Trojans with 12 goals and 11 assists, increasing her career totals to 30 goals and 19 assists.

Accomplishments: A P.O. first team choice last year, Flory was placed on the Mid Penn Commonwealth second team.

Quotes: Trojan coach Caleb Davis said, "Jade always seemed to be in the right place at the right time for us. She definitely meant a lot to our offense. When she was marked real tight it made it difficult for us and when she could get free, it was much better. She really hustled every game because she had to work hard for her goals."

COURTNEY BERNECKER, Mid, James Buchanan

Statistics: Bernecker played midfield and forward, scoring 8 goals and producing 8 assists (22 goals, 13 assists in career).

Accomplishments: She was a Mid Penn Capital Division first-teamer and was on the P.O. first team a year ago.

Quotes: "We played Courtney at midfield, but when opponents started sitting on Taylor (Amsley), we moved Courtney up. She was a goal scorer who could dictate the play. We needed her to score, but she was actually better at setting things up. She came to understand our style of play better and that helped everything."

LAURA RAHAUSER, Mid, Mercersburg Academy

Statistics: Despite missing several games with an injury, Rahauser scored 7 goals and assisted on 5 (10, 9 in career).

Accomplishments: She was a second team selection for the P.O. all-stars in 2009.

Quotes: Blue Storm coach Jason Bershatsky said, "Laura has a great combination of aggression, speed and skill in her game. She really has a good motor and you can tell she really enjoys playing soccer. Laura makes things happen for us on offense. She'll take a lot of shots, but plays pretty good defense, too."

MEGAN BAER, Def, Shippensburg

Statistics: Baer, who was the Lady Hounds' marking back, posted 1 assist; she has 2 goals and 3 assists in her career.

Accomplishments: Baer, a P.O. honorable mention pick last year, made the Mid Penn Capital Division first team in 2010.

Quotes: "In almost all of our division games, Megan marked the other team's top player," Shippensburg coach Warren Jones said. "She's real quiet, but she has her game face on every day and she works very hard in practice. She's very smart; she knows the game and reads the field real well."
