NEWVILLE -- The Chambersburg girls basketball team picked up its third straight win and pushed its record back to .500 on the season.

But not without a few nervous moments in the fourth quarter.

Some faulty foul shooting allowed Big Spring to hang around, but the Trojans held on for a 49-45 non-league victory on Wednesday night.

After holding the Lady Bulldogs to just two third-quarter points, Chambersburg (3-3) led 36-23 entering the fourth quarter.

Big Spring (5-7) scored 22 points in the final period, but the Trojans helped the home team out by shooting 7-for-20 from the foul line in the fourth quarter and 11 of 26 for the game.

"(Foul shooting) is something we'll be working on," Chambersburg coach Anthony Rose said. "We made 75 percent last night and tonight we didn't hit 45 percent. Actually, a lot of them rattled in and out. Most of them looked good, they just weren't falling."

A 12-2 spurt in the third quarter broke up a three-point halftime lead in favor of the Trojans. Brittney Hickey finished with 16 points for Chambersburg, while Jade Flory and Brooklyn Shearer each scored seven.

Flory added four assists and three steals and Jen Hamilton pulled down seven rebounds.

"It was really good to see us hold on," Rose said. "I told the girls to win back-to-back road games like that, it says a lot about the improvement we're making. We're getting better each and every day."
