From staff reports
In what amounted to a battle for second place in the Mid Penn Commonwealth Division, the Chambersburg girls volleyball team was more than equal to the task against a solid Central Dauphin side.
The Trojans shook off a rocky third set to defeat the Rams in four sets on Tuesday night at the CASHS gymnasium.
After the Trojans started the match with victories of 27-25 and 25-22, CD roared back for a 25-14 win to extend the match.
But Chambersburg (7-5, 6-3 MPC) righted the ship in time for a 25-23 triumph.
"All the games were back and forth," Trojan coach Ty Frelin said. "They are the type of team that doesn't force the issue at all and plays to keep the ball in play. We stayed tough, despite falling behind in a couple of the games."
Morgan Lehman had a huge night, swatting 16 kills to go with six blocks and 18 digs. Aryn Rebok totaled 37 assists, Brianne Rice added 12 kills and seven blocks and Olivia Kohler amassed 16 digs, 17 service points and three aces.
Frelin said, "We were behind four or five points in the last game and Brianne Rice got on a roll and we came back with her up front. Liashira (Rivera) was the next rotation and she had six of her nine kills in the fourth game.
"We did what we needed to do. They only had two losses in the division before tonight -- to us and CV. So they are a solid team."
