Hana Krechel

Kennard-Dale's Hana Krechel ran track to keep in shape for lacrosse.

So after spending three years on the track team, it was an easy decision that Krechel would play girls' lacrosse instead of track in the spring during the inaugural varsity lacrosse season at Kennard-Dale.

The senior posted more than 65 goals and 40 assists in leading the Rams to the PIAA tournament.

Before she continues her lacrosse career at Lebanon Valley College, we got the 2009 Daily Record/Sunday News girls' lacrosse player of the year's take on everything from living overseas to her needs to surviving on a deserted island.

* * *

If you were in charge of picking a new mascot for your school, what would you pick?

I like the Ram. I'm sorry that's boring, but I'd stick with the Ram.

If your sport wasn't offered, what other spring sport would you play?

Track.

If you could have any superpower, what would it be?

Time travel. I'd like to have time control, so I could slow stuff down.

What's your favorite ice cream topping?

Sprinkles.

What are three items you'd take on a deserted island?

Whenever I hear this question, I'd always say my cell phone, so I could call someone to rescue me. But would that work at all? With Verizon, you never know. I guess then I would take my friends, my sister and a lot of food.

Did you have a nickname growing up? If so, how'd you get it?

My mom used to call me Hana Banana. It's been around for awhile and it rhymes, but she doesn't call me that anymore.

Which would you compete on: American Idol or Dancing With the Stars?

I would definitely enjoy American Idol more.

Favorite music to drive to?

I love singing Taylor Swift songs while I drive.

What is your favorite subject in school?

Calculus.

What's your most favorite and least favorite drill your coach does in practice?

My favorite drill that we did was when we played the varsity starters against the entire JV team. So it was like 12 on 25. We had to find ways to get open, so that was a fun drill. My least favorite drill is sprints.

Who's the toughest opponent you faced this season?

When we played the Lancaster teams like Penn Manor and Manheim that have been teams longer than we have. I know that when we play other York County teams, they're gunning for us, so they're going to be playing hard as well.

Have you lived in York County your whole life and, if not, where are you from?

No. I've moved like 11 times because my Dad was in the Navy. I lived overseas for six years. We moved all around when I was a kid from Florida to Virginia to Mississippi to Rhode Island. We were all over the place. I was actually born in Pensacola, Florida.

What's the most interesting vacation you've ever taken?

China we got to see a lot of cool landmarks. It was interesting and a lot of people can't say they've been there. When we lived in Germany we would always travel to different countries in Europe, it was annoying that my parents would drag us away every weekend to go visit places. But, now I'm thankful they did because I'm lucky that I got to do a lot of stuff other kids couldn't.

Name one place you'd love to go during your lifetime.

To Egypt to see the pyramids.

Who do you talk to most often on your cell phone?

Probably my sister who's in college.

What was your favorite thing to do at elementary school recess?

Play kickball.

Are you a clean bedroom person or a messy bedroom person? What would be the first thing that someone would notice upon entering your bedroom?

Messy-bedroom person, my bedroom is a wreck. My mom will hate that that's in the paper. The first thing someone would notice would be my posters of Orlando Bloom and the All-American Rejects.

Do you have a part-time job and, if so, what is it?

No, my parents never made us get a job while we're in high school. I really appreciate that. Hopefully that will get me out of cleaning my room.

What sport are you the absolute worst at?

Softball. Whenever we play in gym, I just swing and miss.
