Great Valley clinched the Ches-Mont League American Division title in boys tennis with a 4-3 win over visiting West Chester Henderson on Thursday.

The Patriots (12-0, 16-1) also wrapped up the league's overall championship.

It was Great Valley's first division crown since 2009, which capped a four-year title run.

Henderson, the National Division champion, fell to 10-2 in the league.

Chris Shannon was the deciding match for Great Valley as he earned a 6-2, 3-6, 7-5 win at third singles.

Adarsh Nair turned in another solid performance at second singles, while Miguel Munoz and Peter Slaats rallied for a three-set win at first doubles.

Karl Hoegstedt won in straight sets at first singles for Henderson.

The lone win for Downingtown West (5-7, 6-7) came from Max Beneke and Thomas Albed in a three-setter at second doubles.

GIRLS TRACKPenn Relays at Franklin Field: Great Valley's Crosby Spiess, Anna Willig, Tabitha Wismer and Elise Claffey finished first in their heat of the small-school 4x800 relay.

They clocked in at 9:11.26, which was the second-fastest time in all the divisions. Only Edwin Allen, Jamaica was faster in the large-school division at 9:09.23.

Downingtown East's Lexi VanBlunk, Anja Weiler, Amanda Koser and Maggie Ferry were 14th (9:47.61) in their division of the large-school 4x800.

The Unionville girls finished 12th in the Distance Medley Championship of America with a time of 12:20.47. The team consisted of Gretchen Mills, Taylor Thames, Anna Juul and Olivia Young.

Moriah Fitzgerald of Avon Grove placed fifth in the High School Girls Pole Vault Championship with an effort of 11-11 3/4. Great Valley won the Ches-Mont League 4x400 relay as Carol Burgess, Lauren Hall, Sarah Hipwell and Spiess finished in 4:01.31.

Avon Grove (4:06.3) was second, Coatesville (4:06.63) was third, West Chester Henderson (4:10.50) fourth and Downingtown East (4:14.85) fifth.

Great Valley's Lauren Hall, Jackie Hardin, Emma Iacobucci and Burgess placed 24th in the heats of the small-school 4x100 (49.89).

Coatesville's Janyia Warner, Kira Laurento, Deja Rainey and Valarie Jones placed 33rd in the large-school 4x100 heats.

Westtown's Jamie Murphy-Soika, Maddie Roberts, Abbe Domenick and Naomi Jimenez placed 18th in the Prep School 4x400.
