Brooke Harner pitched the first perfect game of her career as the Kennett High School softball team cruised past visting Sun Valley 6-0 on Thursday.

The Blue Demons kept their hold on sole possession of first place in the Ches-Mont League American Division.

Harner, a senior, allowed no hits and no walks in seven innings of work. She also struck out 18 of the 21 batters she faced.

Kennett (7-1, 7-2) made two nice defensive plays in the field on hard hit balls to preserve the perfect game.

Kylee Harvey led the Blue Demons' offense, going 2-for-3 with three RBIs and one run scored.

Sun Valley dropped to 1-6 in the league.

She also added a two-run homer.

Elaina DiPrimio had a strong game for Rustin, going 3-for-4 with two RBIs and three runs scored. Rachel Parker finished 2-for-4 with two RBIs and a run scored.

W.C. East 5, Octorara 4: The Vikings (4-4, 5-4) had to rally out of an early three-run deficit, storming back to win the Ches-Mont League game in their final at-bat.

East scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning as Sean O'Donnell delivered the game-winning hit with a walk-off RBI single.

Earlier in the inning, Ian Street (3-for-4) connected on an RBI triple to cut the lead to 4-3.

Dan Genthert pitched outstanding in relief for West Chester East to get the victory. Genthert tossed 4.1 innings, allowing no hits and no runs. He struck out six.

Kyle Block went 3-for-3 with two RBIs, and Connor Ruhl was 2-for-3 with an RBI.

Octorara dropped to 0-5 in the league.

The Indians trailed 6-1 in the first half, but stormed back after halftime.

Hughes finished with two goals and three assists, Cassie Blair had three goals, McDonough two and Quinn Benintende two.

West Chester East (2-2) had tied the game at 11 with 1:30 left on Shannon Moore's third goal of the match.

Holly Hager led the Vikings with five goals, and Nicole Venuti played well in goal.

Kennett scored the final three goals of the game and missed a last-minute shot that would have tied it.
