WEST GOSHEN -- It was senior night for the West Chester Henderson boys hockey team as the senior forward corps of Chandler Liero, Eric Carreras and Kyle Wicka piled on the goals to rout Owen J. Roberts-Pope John Paul2, 10-0 for a 10-0 win Friday night in an Inter County Scholastic Hockey League game at Ice Line."(Carreras) is probably the best player in the entire state,' said Henderson head coach Scott DiRico. "That's probably the truth. Wicka and Liero, those guys all did a great job leading us today.'

Liero and Carreras had six-point nights while Wicka was right behind with five.

This was the most goals scored in a game by Henderson (5-2-1) all year."We said we needed to get a couple (of goals),' DiRico said. "As soon as we did and we started getting a couple, things worked out. The guys were moving the puck well.'

Henderson just couldn't quite get the puck past freshman goaltender James Poot to start the game, despite the numerous chances, but once the game began to settle in, the goals started coming in bunches.

Poot made a big glove save on the penalty kill for OJR-PJP 2 (3-7-0) three minutes into the game to keep it scoreless, but wave after wave of attacks became too much to handle.

A flurry of three goals in the matter of 1:08 in the first period drastically tilted the ice in favor of Henderson.

Liero started things off by slipping the puck under Poot's pads on a delayed penalty at 11:34. Junior forward Eric Beren followed up 31 seconds later in close and Carreras caught Poot out of position for an easy goal 37 seconds after Beren for a 3-0 advantage

The floodgates opened in the second as the goals came pouring in for Henderson - five to be exact.

Carreras sped down the ice and cut around a defender to the front of the night and tucked it in at 5:50.

A weird goal followed 22 seconds after when Liero's shot deflected off another stick and bounced high into the air, but landed behind Poot and in the net. Poot was then pulled in favor of senior Brendan Heller.

Even while they were shorthanded, Henderson kept the pressure up and the puck in the back if the net.

Wicka chipped a shot over Heller's glove at 9:22 and while on the same penalty kill, did it again 25 seconds later to extend Henderson's lead to 7-0.

Carreras completed his hat trick with 59.7 seconds left in the middle frame.

Henderson tacked on two more goals from sophomore forward Jarrett Slear and another hat trick, this time from Wicka, to end the game just 1:47 into the third.

As busy as the OJR-PJP2 goalies were, the opposite was true of Henderson's Tyler Bonjo, who was called to make just six saves to earn the shutout.

Henderson now heads into the Christmas break and will come out in January against first-place Unionville."It's a good way to go out before the holidays,' DiRico said. "We have hard games coming up, so we're able to work on some stuff and I think that helped as the game went on.'
