Downingtown East finished its Ches-Mont League girls volleyball season with a 25-7, 25-18, 25-22 victory over visiting Octorara on Wednesday.
The Cougars ended up 14-0 in the league and captured the National Division title.
It was the first girls volleyball championship in the Downingtown School District's history.
They improved to 15-1 overall as Lauren Mueller produced 10 kills, nine digs, two aces and one block, Caroline Layden four kills, eight digs, three aces and two blocks, and Caroline Ambrogi 11 kills, 10 digs and one ace.
Octorara finished 6-8 in the league.Villa Maria 3, Mount St. Joseph 0: Villa Maria captured the Athletic Association of Catholic Academies championship with a 25-17, 25-18, 25-21 win in the playoff final.
Shae Murphy compiled 29 digs, two assists and two aces, Katherine Miller 17 digs, 22 assists and three blocks, Elle Salinas 25 digs and eight kills, and Danielle Hillman nine kills and eight blocks.
The Hurricanes improved to 17-2 overall.Oxford 3, W.C. East 0: Oxford posted a 26-24, 25-9, 25-23 win in the Ches-Mont finale for both teams.
Kelly Bolton had eight kills for the Hornets (4-10 league), Mariah Jardine 16 digs, Melanie Kempf four aces, Andrea Longacre 17 assists, and Kelsey Wetzel six kills.
For West Chester East (0-14 league), Carly Shortridge totaled one kill, 22 digs and one ace, Taylor Kulp three assists and two digs, Caitlin Culbertson five kills, 11 digs and two aces, and Elisabeth Kerns 13 assists, nine
For Unionville (9-5 league), Sydney Salle notched nine kills, Sarah Muscato 18 digs, and Becky Baptiste 3.5 blocks.Avon Grove 3, Sun Valley 0: Avon Grove (11-3, 12-4) hammered out a 25-13, 25-20, 25-17 Ches-Mont win as Eleanor Schultz contributed 35 assists, Allie Raff 15 kills, and Izzy Neils eight kills and six blocks.

Nicole Gray had seven kills and 10 digs for Coatesville (2-12), Anna Pepe three digs and three blocks, and Jackie Walsh 14 assists.Downingtown West 3, W.C. Brianna Farrelly amassed 11 kills for the Patriots (6-8, 10-8), Mackenzie Farrelly 28 assists, and Ashley Magee 11 digs.

Field HockeyUnionville 1, W.C. East 0: Unionville remained in contention for the Ches-Mont American Division title with the tight victory.
The lone goal came at the 16-minute mark. A pass from Izzy McDonough turned into a breakaway in which Taylor Denton took on one defender after another and then finally the East goalie, carrying the ball smoothly into the cage.
Unionville goalkeeper Sarah O'Neill recorded nine saves with strong support from Mary Umbs, Catie Ward, and Maria Kirifides. Cayla Hammaker and Logan Perkins also played well.
Unionville (8-5, 10-8) can win the division title if Great Valley (7-5) loses or ties today against West Chester East. Great Valley owns the tiebreaker over Unionville.
Hannah Erfle and Katie Owens made saves on the back line for West Chester East (8-4, 11-4). Steph Batog and Maddy Lewis were other standouts.

Emma Betrando added a goal and an assist. Brianna Bolon, Ryann Bauer, and Carly Askinas were defensive standouts. Emily Finn made five saves in the shutout.
Oxford finished 6-7 in the league.

Girls TennisDistrict 1 Doubles Tournament: Four area pairings advanced to the quarterfinals after Wednesday's matches at Legacy Tennis.
Conestoga moved two pairings into the Class AAA quarterfinals in Lauren Banner-Lipika Gadila and Kaylee Yan-Lauren Ge. Banner and Gadila were seeded fourth while Yan and Ge were seeded 10th.
Allie Lane and Victoria Soltysiak will represent Unionville in the quarterfinals. The pair is seeded sixth.
Emma Clark and Harshita Palegar are seeded eighth. They are the lone West Chester Henderson representive in the quarterfinals.
In the District 1 Class AA bracket, Villa Maria's Danielle Rufus and Haley Noll advanced to the championship final. Rufus and Noll were seeded third.
The Class AAA quarterfinals and semifinals will be held at Legacy on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. The Class AA final will be held at the same place and time.

West Chester (2-4) snapped a four-match losing streak.
Maddy Shaak teamed with Nicole Fahringer for an 8-3 win at first doubles, before polishing off her opponent at first singles, 6-0, 6-0.
