SHIPPENSBURG -- Both games were very much up for grabs in the second half of the 29th annual Central Pennsylvania Scholastic Soccer All-Star Games on Sunday afternoon at sun-splashed David See Field on the campus of Shippensburg University.
In the first game, the White team held a 2-1 lead late in the second half before suffering a 3-2 loss to the Black team. Bishop McDevitt's Jimmy Fisher put the black team on the scoreboard first, but the White responded.
McConnellsburg's Colby Sowers and Big Spring's Kyle Jumper punched in goals to hand White the 2-1 advantage. Greencastle-Antrim's Kevin Piper tied up the score with a goal at the 38-minute mark.
Trinity's Ryan Sweeney scored the game-winner in the 72nd minute.
Sowers was the recipient of the Tom Stouffer Award at halftime. It was the fourth year the award has been presented to a Franklin or Fulton county player who combines soccer talent, academy success and leadership skills.
In the second game, the Red team rushed out to a 3-0 halftime lead and closed out the Blue team 4-2.
Carlisle's Dexter Lamparter and Waynesboro's Jacob Smith helped provided a 3-0 halftime cushion. Lamparter scored in the 7th minute and 45th minute of the half.
But, the Blue team kept the game interesting. Chambersburg's Andrew Collier scored in the 74th minute, then Gettysburg's Carson Conover scored on a penalty kick to draw the Blue team within a goal.
Hershey's Thomas
Chambersburg's Justin Warren was a late-addition to the all-star game played for the Blue team.
