The Boyertown Area High School softball team got the 2014 season under way with a pair of PAC-10 victories.

On March 24, the Lady Bears opened the season with a home game against Upper Perkiomen. The game was close, until Boyertown plated five runs in the fifth and three in the sixth to pull out a 10-0 victory.

Mandy Kalil pitched a one-hit shutout for Boyertown, walking three and fanning two.

The Boyertown offense had 11 hits in the game, including two hits and three runs scored from Vicki Schlot. Maddie Cotellese contributed with a single, double and two RBIs, while Amanda Loar added a single, double and two runs scored. Becky Marburger added two hits and knocked in a run.

On March 27, the Lady Bears took on Perkiomen Valley in another league contest. A three-run sixth inning helped Boyertown to a 4-2 win. Freshman Emily Bradley was the winning pitcher, hurling a complete game. She allowed two runs on five hits and two walks, while fanning seven.

Elie Goida paced the Boyertown offense with two hits and two runs scored, while Loar drove in a pair of runs.
