The Oley Valley High School boys' basketball team dropped a pair of non-league games last week and are now 1-0 in the Berks League and 3-2 overall.
The Lynx began the week with a game in Bucktown where they took on Owen J. Roberts. The Wildcats used strong first and third periods to defeat Oley Valley, 77-38.
Owen J. Roberts took control of the game early, taking a 21-5 lead at the end of the first quarter. The Lynx cut the lead to 13 by halftime, but the Wildcats pulled away in the third quarter, outscoring Oley, 27-8.
Ben Kerkeslager led the Oley Valley offense with 14 points in the contest. Hunter Renninger scored 10 points and Chad Maier chipped in with four.
On Dec. 23, the Lynx remained on the road, this time to take on a very tough Lebanon Catholic team. Oley Valley had trouble handling the host team as Lebanon Catholic won the game, 73-41.
Lebanon Catholic jumped out to a 19-8 lead after one quarter, then stretched the advantage to 23 by halftime, 41-18. The home team put the game away in the third quarter when they outscored the Lynx, 26-14.
Kerkeslager was the high scorer for Oley Valley with 15 points in the contest. Renninger netted 12 points while Sebastian Williamson scored six and Joe Coopersmith added five.
