The Exeter High School girls' basketball team got the season off on the right foot by winning all three games, including the Tulpehocken Tip-Off Tournament championship.
The Lady Eagles started the season on Dec. 6 with an opening round match-up with tournament host Tulpehocken. A 15-point third quarter helped the Lady Eagles to a 39-25 victory.
Leading 16-13 at halftime, Exeter pulled away in the third quarter, outscoring the Trojans, 39-25.
Janai Cintron and Jennifer Eck each had 13 points for the Lady Eagles, while Ali Snyder chipped in with eight.
The victory sent the Lady Eagles to the championship game where they took on Susquehanna Township. The game was a close one throughout, but a 13-7 advantage in the fourth quarter gave Exeter a 39-31 victory.
Snyder was the high scorer for the locals with 13 points in the game. Eck and Katye Johnson each netted 11 points.
On Dec. 11, the Lady Eagles traveled to Ephrata and came home with a 44-33 non-league victory.
Exeter jumped out to a 12-6 lead after one quarter, then extended the advantage to 12 by halftime, 24-12. They put the game away in the third quarter by outscoring Ephrata, 14-8.
Eck was the leading scorer for Exeter with 12 points. Snyder and Johnson each scored 10 points while Abby Mengel and Tearah Burden each had four.
