With a pair of district victories, the Oley Valley High School boys' soccer team has advanced to the semifinal round. The Lynx defeated Annville-Cleona and Fleetwood in the first two rounds.
The victories send Oley Valley to the semifinals where they will take on Susquehannock at Hersheypark Stadium at 7:30 p.m. An Oley Valley victory in that game will send the Lynx to the championship game on Oct. 31 in Hershey, where they will take on the winner of the Manheim Central vs. Pequea Valley game.
In first round action, Oley Valley scored three first half goals and had little trouble getting by Annville-Cleona, 4-1. on Oct. 21.
Marcus Frangakis and Ben Kerkeslager each had a pair of goals for the Lynx, while Zachary Russo, Gregory Whitehouse and Matt Burns each had an assist.
Each team had five shots on goal in the match, with Ryan Krall making four saves in goal for the Lynx.
On Oct. 24, the Lynx took on Fleetwood in the quarterfinals. Thanks to a pair of early second half Oley goals, the Lynx defeated the Tigers, 2-1.
Fleetwood held a 1-0 halftime lead, but the Lynx got second half goals from Ben Kerkeslager and Marcus Frangakis to pull off the come-from-behind victory.
Frangakis and had an assist in the game, as did Greg Whitehouse.
Fleetwood outshot the Lynx, 7-5, and had four corners to Oley's three. Ryan Krall made six saves in goal for Oley Valley.
