The Fleetwood High School boys cross country team led the local teams at the Berks County Cross Country Championship Run held at Kutztown University on Oct. 16.
The Fleetwood boys captured seventh place at the event with 240 team points, just one point ahead of eighth place Daniel Boone and five ahead of Muhlenberg and Tulpehocken.
Kutztown finished in 14th place with 352 team points.
Twin Valley won the event with 43 team points, while Wilson was second and Governor Mifflin was third.
In the girls' championship run, Kutztown tied Hamburg for 10th place with 296 points, while Fleetwood fell to 14th place with 345 team points.
Governor Mifflin won the girls' race with 59 pints, 13 points ahead of second place Daniel Boone, and 41 point ahead of Muhlenberg and Wilson.
Finishing for the Fleetwood boys were: Casey Santos, 29th (18:05); Carl Fortna, 32nd (18:08); Chad Delay, 47th (18:40); Jacob Wetherhold, 62nd (19:09); Shawn Delay, 70th (19:21); Eric Wily, 78th (19:33); and Killian Grider, 87th (19:54).
Finishers for the Kutztown boys were: Anson Weidner, 37th (18:17); David Welsh, 45th (18:38); Jarid Kunkel, 58th (19:07); Samuel Kulp, 102nd (21:20); Aaron Collins, 110th (22:28); and Matthew Schappell, 111th (24:38).
Finishing for the Kutztown girls were: Madeline Short, 30th (21:31); Jillian Uhlenbrock, 41st (22:12); Erica Onorofsky, 52nd (22:51); Maya Workowski, 84th (24:55); Krista Kunkel, 89th (25:37); and Emily Fenstermacher, 93rd (26:16).
