Jon Raab led Eastern's best-ever basketball teams, including a District 3 championship and a trip to the state final. I'll give him the bronze.
Jon Witman's prowess on the gridiron made him Eastern's best-ever football player. Division I football recruiters had to notice as the big fish from the little pond leapt 21-9 to win a state long jump title. That, plus playing in the Big 33 game, made him outstanding in two sports.
However, Donna McLain put Eastern York on the state sports map in the late seventies, winning six state track and field titles. She was a three-time All-American in high school. Here 10:33.61 time in the 3200 meters her senior season stood as a PIAA Class AA state record for 28 years until being broken this spring.
Kudos, Donna. You get the gold!

I felt like your list was very well constructed, but there were a couple of people that I feel you left out from the 2008 class.
Zach Dohm was a state champ at high jump as a junior, as well as a county all star in football as a free saftey. He went back to states to place fourth in high jump and earn another state medal as a 1,600-meter relay competitor his senior year.
Damian Myers won multiple state medals as a junior and senior in the 200 meters and on the 400-meter relay team that broke the school's record.
Ian Melhorn was a top running back his senior year, as well as a multiple state medal recipient.
James McBride was runner of the year in cross country and also won state medals in long-distance running.

CLASS OF 2008
Thank you for placing Katie Vican's name on your list. Just an update: Katie transferred this year with a full scholarship to Fordham University in The Bronx, N.Y.
It is a Division I University in the Atlantic 10 Conference. She is a junior this year. Because of the transfer, she will have to red-shirt this season. She will still have two more years of eligibility.

I appreciate the tremendous effort it must take to compile these lists for greatest athletes. Great job!
I do want to point out one name I think you missed in your list for Eastern York High School. Chad Barshinger (1989) was a multiple-time Sectional champion and a District 3 champion during his four years as a varsity wrestler at Eastern York.
He also held the school record for wins for several years (which, I think, may have been broken recently). He was heavily recruited, especially by Lock Haven University (one of the top wrestling schools in the country).
In addition, Chad was a top-notch linebacker on a football team, on which he was often overshadowed by the all-state efforts of Jeremy Vera. In baseball, Chad led the team in batting as a senior with a .437 average.
If you ask anyone connected to Eastern York High School, I think they would say Chad was Eastern's all-time best wrestler and certainly one of it's top athletes.
Thanks for your series, and thanks for listening to the sports fans of York County. Keep up the good work!
