WEST LAWN -- Forget Saturday's rather one-sided loss to Susquehannock in the District 3 Class AA semifinals at Wilson High School, it's still been a great year for West York and coach Joe Ramp.

After the way the Bulldogs put West York on the girls' volleyball map, who can blame Ramp for being so happy?

"This is the best season I have had in my coaching career," he said. "These girls worked hard from the preseason. They earned where they go today."

The Warriors bested the Bulldogs, 25-13, 25-15, 25-19, ending West York's season one match shy of a trip to the PIAA tournament. Still, getting as far as they did was worth the ride.

The Bulldogs went 2-1 in this week's pool play, including match wins over Trinity and Manheim Central.

"Nobody knew who West York was when we went to pool play and that was fine with us. It worked to our advantage," Ramp, who coached many of his high school players in the Yorktowne Volleyball Club, said.

"Our motto was play like there is no tomorrow. So these girls and the seven seniors put their hearts into it."

Katelyn Ort posted a team-high nine kills, Bethany Richardson had seven kills and a dig, Emily Sides dished out 19 assists with two digs and a kill and fellow senior Jade Williams pulled up 13 digs against Susquehannock.
