Spring Grove High defeated Chambersburg Monday night in three games to move into pool play in the District 3 Class AAA girls volleyball tournament.
The Lady Rockets defeated Chambersburg, 25-18, 25-13, 25-18, at Penn Manor High School, Millersville.
Hitting the ball well, Spring Grove dominated the second game. Claire Sindlinger finished the game with a perfect hitting percentage, meaning she had no errors in the game.
In the third game, the Lady Rockets ran into trouble with the Trojans. The score was tied at 17, but Lauren Magalski went on a service run and pushed Spring Grove ahead.
"Our serving came through at the end of the match," Spring Grove coach Dawn Myers said. "We kept the ball in play and did a nice job getting some energy back and finishing the game."
Spring Grove will be in pool play today and will have play South Western, Hempfield and Daniel Boone. Spring Grove and South Western will meet for the third time this year as both attempt to move into the quarterfinal round.
"We almost beat them the last time we met them. It will be a good match," Myers said.
