Chambersburg's girls swim team picked up two key first places late in the meet and was able to hold off Central Dauphin 90-80 in a Mid Penn Commonwealth Division meet Tuesday at the Chambersburg YMCA.

Chambersburg's Ali Pastor took first in the 100 backstroke and Autumn Bowers followed by taking first in the 100 breaststroke.

Trojan coach Donnie Miller said, "I knew it would be close and we needed a safe cushion going into the 400 relay at the end. Both Pastor and Bowers did a nice job. They are seniors who came through when we needed them."

Bowers also picked up a victory in the 200 IM, an event she normally does not swim. The 200 medley relay team of Kelly Hamilton, Bowers, Chelsey Michael and Hannah Parson also took first.

The Rams won six events, but Chambersburg (6-3, 3-2 MPC), which has five straight victories, won the majority of seconds.

Hamilton was second behind CD's Samantha Wary in the 50 and 100 freestyle.

Miller said, "I wanted to swim Kelly in some races that she wouldn't dominate. Wary swam in states last year in both of those events, so she's very good. Kelly did very well; both of them were close."
