COLONIAL PARK -- The Chambersburg girls basketball team faced some tough circumstances entering Tuesday's Mid Penn Capital Division game against Central Dauphin East.

The game was moved up to 3:30 p.m. in the afternoon and the Trojans had to drive to Harrisburg into the coming snowstorm.

The Panthers took full advantage of the Trojans' slow start, racing to a 24-2 first-quarter lead on their way to a comfortable 62-47 triumph.

"The first quarter they came out and hit us hard and hit us fast," Chambersburg coach Anthony Rose said. "We recovered in the second and third quarters, but you've got to play consistent through all four quarters and you can't have any letdowns. We've struggled with that all season."

Katie Lytle scored 21 points to pace CD East (11-10, 7-8 MPC), which has won three of its last four games to get back into the district playoff race.

The Trojans (7-13, 4-11 MPC) got 13 points and eight rebounds from Cayla Salmon, while Jade Flory scored 10.
