Led by Bri Thomas, the Gettysburg Warriors controlled the tempo and the second half in their 49-35 non-league girls basketball game victory over Chambersburg on Saturday night at Trojan Field House.
The game was tied 21-21 at halftime before the Warriors (9-9) pulled away with a dominant third quarter.
Gettysburg outscored the Trojans 13-4 in the third period and 28-14 in the second half.
"The first half I thought it was a very evenly matched game," Trojans coach Anthony Rose said. "The second half we had a few mental breakdowns defensively that let Gettysburg seize control. Defensively, I didn't think our effort was there tonight."
Thomas paced Gettysburg with 22 points, including 7-of-9 at the foul line. Dejonia Reid added 12 points for the Warriors.
"We knew Thomas was a very good player. She's a very good shooter and has a lot of speed and quickness and we knew that coming in," Rose said.
Chambersburg (6-10) got seven points and five rebounds from Torrie Thomas while Jade Flory scored seven points with three steals. The Trojans finished with just 13 rebounds.
Rose said, "Honestly, Gettysburg made a majority of their shots and we didn't shoot much on offense (13-of-30), so there were not a lot of rebounds to be had."
